TY Loves2Watch 07-25-2009, 09:40 AM I have heard and seen that Walmart has one, in store only for $128.00. tcarcio 07-25-2009, 10:16 AM Walmarts in alot of area's are selling the Magnavox bd player for 98 bucks. Check it out...http://www.engadgethd.com/2009/07/09/wal-mart-rolls-back-cheap-blu-ray-player-price-to-98/ JohninTenn 07-25-2009, 10:58 AM They have remolded the superstore close to me and my wife hates it. It loos like they ave really cut back on inventory. I wanted to look at a lawn mower and they had 5 with no riding mowers. The TV department was tripled in size. Fishing stuff was cut back. Even the grocery part is really scaled back. Just curious if they did it to all of them. I bet Sam is spinning in his grave. PS I have to go to Sams later I wonder how it looks now. Please advice anyone. Wal-Mart has since marked their Magnavox player back up to $168. I honestly believe there will be some significant sales during Q4. Last year in October I got my 46" Sanyo 1080p LCD for $798 in a one day sale lasting from 6-10 AM. I am sure we will see similar deals with Blu-ray and of course Black Friday will surely sport some $79-99 players. olivehead 07-30-2009, 12:22 PM walmarts in my neck of the woods still have the magnavox NB530/500 MGX for $98. add1t 08-01-2009, 10:46 AM walmarts in my neck of the woods still have the magnavox NB530/500 MGXhttp://www.photosnag.com/img/4275/n09x0302vnsn/clear.gif for $98. magnavox NB530/500 is not special but for $98, it's a great deal:) E55 KEV 08-07-2009, 02:28 PM New Insignia profile 2.0/BDLive model at BB for $99: http://www.highdefforum.com/blu-ray-players/99127-insignia-ns-bdlive01-99-99-a.html#post917707 Chris Gerhard 08-10-2009, 04:56 AM I did see the Funai made Profile 1.1 Magnavox player at Wal-Mart for $98. That player has been thoroughly reviewed and discussed in great detail over the last year and a half and in general gets good marks. It has always appeared to me that the owners have been happy and the player has proven itself. I haven't owned it and have no first hand information. The Best Buy Insignia NS-BDLIVE01 Profile 2.0 player is apparently manufactured by Desay. Funai is I believe still number 1 in the world in number of DVD players manufactured each year and Desay is a company I know nothing about. At $100, both players seem like a bargain, and a great way to get invovled without spending much. If I didn't care about Profile 2.0, I would think the Magnavox player is the better bet but I think picking up a Profile 2.0 player just in case something of value is offered on upcoming releases requiring Profile 2.0 might make sense. Chris WestC07 08-10-2009, 08:20 PM After a short firsthand experience with the $98 Magnavox NB530MGX AND 500MGX I have to say, save a little extra and pass up on this one. While it does play a majority of BluRays, there are apparently many that it does not and there is no supported Firmware update to fix this problem. Returned it today and picked up a Panasonic BD60 at Best Buy. Couldn't be happier. WestC07 08-10-2009, 08:41 PM I'm sure you're correct. According to what I've read your player, the MG9, is supported by Magnavox, however the mgX is not, hence the NB530MGX. The specific movie was Twilight which would not load properly. Also experienced some difficulty playing Coraline (both the girlfriend's viewing pleasure mind you) but it did play. When you say Magnavox you do mean Funai correct? I also like mine better anyway because it has an SD card slot where the newer player does not. autobot 08-10-2009, 10:37 PM Check out some of the Sony Style stores older Bd players have been sold as cheap as 75.00...Ill post some info Ill be reviewing a store this week...i also picked up a brand new Panasonic bd30k..region free for 150.00 on ebay..hope some of this helps | |
