Prime example: ET (1982) and Emmett's famous quip to his brother (which was quickly edited out) and now there is a whole new ET where the gov't guys are waving sensors and such like as opposed to the original where they were waving guns.
Can't trust anyone anymore.

Are you serious? They did that to ET? Damn... what a load of B.S. Today its ET, tomorrow I get my chip implanted.

But for real, they edit everything now. The worst examples are the war coverage they are spoon feeding us. If they showed clips like the ones during Vietnam, we'd be outta Iraq by now. The public at large would storm Washington.

For us that were raised on the nightly Nam feeds,,the "Bush" whackers feel they should save us from the horrors.

Just like their rose-colored economic policies that ignore the historic deficit, they don't count the cost... it's all 'mission accomplished' and 'throwing roses to the liberators'... I'm beginning to think they actually believe their own propaganda...

Talking editing and formatting - HBO HD usually shows all movies at 16:9 regardless of the original aspect ratio! However I just noticed that they showed The Girl with the Pearl Earing at 2.35:1, wonders will never cease.

They chopped Troy down to 16:9 - at my second viewing I liked it even less than the first time - especially having now read about the major historical errors like using coins about 500 years before they were invented!

One that really cracked me up was the message at the start of the original Thunderbirds movie (made about 40 years ago) which said 'Edited for content' - must have been Lady Penelope's strip tease scene that took it over the top!!!!!!
