I did not look at the schedule, but if all they play is the Islanders and the Lightning, I think they have a decent chance at the playoffs this year..:D

Seriously, all us Kings fans want is to get that 8th seed. We miss playoff hockey in the worst way!

The West is the toughest Conference IMO, but that's cool... If you want to be the best, you have to beat the best!
Man, I can't WAIT for the new season to start! Bigloww, you must be excited about the great young team the Blackhawks have now! What is your opinion on the front office moves they just made?

Yeh, it is great to see Chicago a BIG hockey town again. It has been a long and shitty drought since the Roenick/Belfour years in the early to mid 90's. I remember going to the old Chicago Stadium as a kid to watch em play. The UC still isn't the same but 25K fans is good to see and hear again. I seen the team starting to jell at the end of the '08 season and surpassed my expectations this year. If this team can stay healthy and together THIS TIME, it could be many fine Hockey years ahead..
As far as the Tallon thing goes..:what: Not sure what is going on with that. I thought he was a great GM and the players liked him allot. A scapegoat perhaps for the free agent BS but at least he is still a big part of the organization. Sorry to see Havlat go, but he was a bit injury proned. Hossa was a big sign though and a great replacement. And we took him away from the Wings. :yippee: so a double goddie thereSome more vetran presence is a + and so is his near 40 goals a year he has been averaging. We shall see how it all meshes next year.. My main concern is with Huet. He show flashes of being a dominate goalie, but then can look like a junior hockey goalie at times. Way too inconsistant and allowed a bunch of very soft goals last season. They commited too much $$ for him so we have no choice. Sorry to see Bulin go, but no way we could afford both. And Bulin is way too injury proned as well.

Speaking of the OLD Chicago stadium...
Remember when the war in Iraq started? When we first invaded?
I remember everyone made such a big deal of Whitney Hoston's singing of the National Anthem @ the Superbowl...
Well, for MY $$$, her rendition was NOTHING compared to the one @ Chicago Stadium at the start of the '91 All Star Game~ I just remember getting goosebumps watching it, and seeing all the American flags, and hearing the cheers of the crowd. It was amazing!! Watching THAT really made me feel patriotic, and really choked me up... :yippee: :yippee: :yippee:
Just now, while writing this post, I googled it, and found out that it is available on Youtube. Duh! Hadn't even thought of that before! :banghead: I will include a link to it... (I can't watch youtube here @ work, so I will look @ it later)
I bet that the old stadium was an AWESOME place to watch a game! I seem to recall hearing that the organ in that place was HUGE, and I don't think they were able to save it, were they?!? :crying:

I saw that you signed Hossa~
Kings wanted him apparently, but he felt you were closer to being playoff contenders than we are here. But you're right, it never hurts to take something away from the Wings!!! :D
I forgot you guys have Cristobal Huet now... Yet another "ex" King! Sometimes I think that there are more "ex" Kings in the league than "ex" "anybody else" if you know what I mean... :p Seems like every time I look around, I can say "Oh, HE was an ex King..."

I was in the Navy at the time and only seen highlights of it on the news. The old Chicago Stadium was the loudest place I have ever been without question. And many Hockey/BB players back then said the same.. Hard to believe a stadium that only handled about 17,000 fans could be so dam crazy. I guess that is why they called it "The Madhouse on Madison".. I know the old Garden was a loud ass place too, but never had the chance of seeing a hockey game there before they tore it down.
I watched a show on this kid before... I think it was on NHL Network. Anyway, it was funny. His mom was talking about him, and his "nickname" when he was in college:
JACK MOTHER-F*CKIN-JOHNSON
Funny as hell to hear his mom tell the story!

I forgot they started the pre season yesterday with that split-squad game...
I was really happy to hear that Wayne Simmonds (http://www.tsn.ca/nhl/teams/players/bio/?id=6472) scored two goals for the Kings! I really like that kid! I picked him as one of the new kids to watch last year, so this is a really promising sign!! With all the other young talent on the Kings, Wayne doesn't get talked about too much, but I think a lot of people will be surprized this year by him~ :2cents
