I have a pS3 and have a limited budget of $250 for an LCD. I'll be sitting about 10 feet away and was leaning towards a new19 vizio va19L but would appreciate any recommendations if this isn't a good choice.
My big concern is with blacks and if 19in will be too small for that distance. The room gets a lot of sun hitting the screen at certain times of the day and the older hd crt TV I have now is nearly unplayable at those times because of the glare and poor black qualities.
If that's too small or there isn't anything new suitable for my budget I'd consider open box or used from a reputable source. 90% game TV.

My computer monitor is 19" and I can barely see it at 6 ft. away, let alone, 10'. For that distance you would need a minimum of 42" display. And if you're using it for gaming, LCD is not a good choice, anyway, due to motion blur and poor viewing angles. Plasma would be a MUCH better choice. However, for your stated budget, I don't know of anything that would work. Seriously - you won't even be able to see a 19" monitor at 10" !!!

Sounds like its time to start saving your money, you would need binoculars to be able to see at that distance. Any gaming LCD with a 4ms or faster response time would be great, I'm running a 19" 8ms (at 1ft viewing distance) response time with little to no motion blurr. If money was no issue Samsung's xxB750 series 240Hz LCD HDTV's would be the sweat spot!:D

LOL! That's kind of what I started thinking after I started reading more on this.
I have a 50in HDTV that I play most games on but it's an early HDTV that only displays 1080i and 480p. It's not without it's flaws but it works great and I'm not looking to replace it anytime soon. The problem is the PS3 doesn't upconvert the signal for 720p games to 1080i like the XBOX and cable boxes do so it displays those games in 480p and they look like crap. I can't take it anymore. I had a 25in SDTV that sat alongside my 50in that I would watch while I'm playing games on the 50in but I just gave that to friend because her TV died so now I need to replace it and figured I could get something affordable that would handle those 720p games.
I guess I could move my chair as close as I need to so I guess you can disregard the 10ft away part for the most part. With that being said would the Vizio VA19l be a good choice on my budget or could someone recommend something more suitable considering the other factors given.
Save your money and buy something nice. You'll get sick of playing on a little screen like that fast.

Yes 10 ft away is too far for a set that size. I sit 10-11' away with my 65" plasma. I was using a 26" LCD for my PC monitor and I was sitting within a cpl of feet. But since you have a Blu-Ray player, you'd probably want to take advantage of that and get a 1080p TV. I would personally wait until you can afford a 1080p or bigger set.

Viore (at Walmart) has a 1080p (1920x1200 native resolution) 22" for 239.00 that should bring you into 250.00 with tax (i dont know your tax). Probably the best picture you would get for a tv that small.
Maybe some more users know of better brand tv's that are cheap and good for gaming.

I never heard of the Viore brand before and the link with the specs does not even give the pixel response time, which would make me nervous.
There are much better brands and probably the best budget brand right now is Vizio. I wouldn't touch this Viore brand myself.
I would still just wait and use the tv your currently using and later buy at the least a 32" which provides a decent range for gaming IMO.
