I just purchased the HLR6167W Samsung DLP TV. I currently have dishnetwork with a DVR receiver. I'm thinking of upgrading to the HD package and paying $150 for the 811 receiver but I don't want to lose my recording capability. Can I use one line from the dish to feed both receivers (using a splitter) and then simply use a different video input for each receiver on the TV?
Sounds like a good plan to me but I'm sure I'm missing something. Any advice would be appreciated.

If you want to pay the extra 10 bucks a month( xtra rcvr, and dvr fee), you will need a second RG6 line direct from dish to receivers.
You cannot split the sat signal.
If one line is all you can have, consider a 942 upgrade with a Dish Pro Plus lnb and seperator.

One coax from the dish is sufficient. New DishPro Plus equipment utilizes diplexers to take advantage of one feed line. The diplexer works sort of like a splitter but it is 2-way capable. I have 2 receivers in 2 seperate rooms with one incoming coax.
This may be more exspensive for you and it would be much much cheaper to simply run another coax line into the house. Is your dish mounted really far from the house?

DPPlus uses a Seperator for twin tuners. TV2 signal can be doplexed back to a central point distribution.
an 811 and his current dvr will require a new coax run.
