Got a HVD-DVD (chinese HVD format) from Sharp (promodisc). Tried to play the files on my PC with different players. Audio is absolutely clear but the picture is only artefacts in all colors. The players tell it would be mpeg2 with a bit rate of 19 Mbits. Also read somewhere that the HVD format is based on ON2s TrueCast Player. Would be thankful for any ideas or confirmed playback results.

Wow. Where did you bought HVD? What resolution HVD has? What hardware players can play HVD? What exactly codec(s) HVD based on (VP5, VP6, VP7)?

If you are interested in "House of the Flying Daggers" movie or any other TRUE 720p HVD players you should look into getting a NeuNeo HVD2081 player that does component upscaling to 1080p/HDMI to 1080i on standard DVDs. They sell that movie in HVD format NOW @ TRUE 720p there also. It of course plays all regular DVDs too!
It is here: www.neodigits.com
Let me know if you get it because I have been thinking about this player to buy.

The HVD-DVD is a promotion DVD which I got from the Sharp marketing boss Germany. I think itīs one of these disks they use in the shops in Asia. The funny thing is, that in all the brand stores in Asia companies like Sony, Panasonic, Sharp and so on hide the chinese HVD-Players from Neodigits or Shinco behind a carton to play their promo disks and donīt have a player for HD material of their own.
Iīm going to install VP6 or VP7 on my system the next days. If there should be any results Iīll let you know.
