local station guy gave me their channel# on DN but...

DN won't let me see it.

He told me they were on channel 7806 but when I try to manually change the channel DN goes immediately to channel 9400 like the number doesn't exist.

Is there some other way I can get to this channel?

Do you pay for your local channel package? If you don't, then you won't be able to see any of the locals through DISH.

First place your guide in All-Chan mode and enter 7800. If the listing your locals are displayed in red then you are not subscribing to them. This is the same situation I have with Rochester locals being displayed as 7634-7637. However I can tune to my OTA channel then hit the right arrow (browse) button then enter one of the 763X numbers and hit info button to obtain guide info for that channel. It would have been nice if they mirrored that info to the actual OTA channel but it better than nothing (I which I was getting before).

One more thing if you don't see any of your local channels in the 7800 range (when in All-Chan mode) then you might require another satellite location. In my situation I have superdish 121 which is required for Rochester NY locals. I got the 121 satellite because of German TV but that's another story.
