VIP 622 DVR No signal from hdmi

I just hooked up an hdmi cable from reciever and get no signal at tv. I am getting recognition of cable connected at tv but no signal. I called dish support and they could not figure it out. I have been using component cables for 2 years but want to upgrade my picture. They are sending me a new reciever but I was just curious if this has been a common problem?

First you will get NO upgrade in picture quality going from component to HDMI (a common misrepresentation of the facts driven by ill informed salespersons and greedy cable manufacturers). Most people I know actually prefer the picture from component. I would recommend taking the HDMI cable back to the store for a refund.

Secondly, Dish Network has had many, many problems with HDMI connection due to the flimsy connection port on the boxes (which break easily, a design flaw). It may work fine for a while then all of a sudden quit. Another reason to stay with component connections.

When all is said and done, there is no valid reason to use the HDMI connection with Dish Network receivers.

You could also be experiencing HDMI handshake issues with your TV. You might want to check with the manufacturer for a firmware update.
