I saw a list which doesn't seem to explain any release dates in order for Toshiba's HD DVD players including my model HD-A20.

All the firmware updates on Toshiba's website looks like this...

So which one is the newest to be exact?

The middle one Version: V 4.0. The version number is the indicator of the newest release and version 4.0 corrects many problems not covered by previous firmware updates.

Do you understand that?

Good to see you posting again L2W. You should stick around more often.

I have a couple of other questions on the HD DVD firmware updates.

1.) Is there away to use the USB extension ports which read 5V/500MA on them both to update the firmware fro the HD DVD player?

2.) What's the best way to burn the ISO software to disc in order to successfully make sure the player is reading the firmware update?

3.) Can the disc be a DVD or does it have to be a CD only media source if ripping the ISO?

I have only used CD-R or direct internet connection to update firmware on Toshiba HD DVD players. For CD-R, I have used Active ISO Burner, version 1.1, but understand it has been replaced by Version 2.0. It is a free download version that I use. I haven't tried DVD-R.

DVD-R can NOT be used as the image is based on a CD-R disc being used.

There is currently no use for those USB connections on ANY of the HD DVD players and at this point I doubt they will ever make them active at this point.
