Want to have a new blu ray movie that is in 1080P, not 1080I, how do we tell the difference when renting? Is it on the box?

Anyway, my new

will be installed this week and I want to immediately check out the pic, I have Dark Knight Blu Ray, not sure if that is 1080P..

Any recent releases that are 1080P blu ray as opposed to 1080I ??

Blu-ray movies by nature of the format are all 1080p. It is the TV and player that could display interlaced imagery but since both of your devices are progressive scan, any Blu-ray movie you get will be 1080p and displayed as such.

Sin City on Blu looks exceptional...

Hope this helped.

i read that the discs may all be 1080p but the recording could be in 1080i or 720p, as i have a blu ray dvd over california it is called, blu ray and it is 1080i

I would then suggest reading the back of the disc box carefully. I don't know of any studio movies not produced in 1080p.

NOTE: Not only does Sin City look exceptional on Blu but it will test your display's gray scale and color. A must have for me.
