Help Please...

Hi everyone, new member and have a question. I have one Direct TV HD/DVR receiver and One standard receiver. In order for the DVR receiver to record and watch another show at the same time, you must have TWO cable outlets connected to it.

What I've been having to do is connect the TWO outlets to the DVR when watching the living room TV and then disconnect one of the cables and plug it in in the bedroom when watching the other TV.

I've been messing with it for 2 days now and understand there is no way to just split the cables in my attic and run a 3rd outlet down in order to have THREE outlets instead of TWO.

So I purchased a Zinwell 4 to 8 powered splitter box hoping this would help my cause... is the only way to fix this mess to run a third cable from my dish? Hope this all makes sense....

First You will need to run TWO more RG6 From your dish to your Attic. < the two that are in the attic now you will cut those and put connetors on both ends of the cut.

Now put the Four line from the Dish to the input on a wb68 Zinwell unpowered spliter.

Then hook the two rG6 (the ones going to your hddvr) and hook them to out put 1 & 2 - Then run as many NEW RG6 to other location as you need them. You will be able to add 6 more RECIVERS or 3 HDDVRS :

Or you can Just call D* and they come hook it alll up for you , even bringing the splitters an d connections you need.

NVM. I was MAJORLY over complicating things. I didn't realize that there was already two additional lines tucked into my dish outside. When I went and looked last time I thought they were connected to something when, in fact, they weren't. Problem solved... and fast.
