If I put recordings from 622 on external hard drive will 612 be able to access them from the drive?

As long as both receivers are on the same account, yes.

I asked this question a couple of months back and got lots of opinions that it couldn't be done because the 622 and 612 were different operating systems or different manufacturers etc.
This is the first time anyone mentioned it is possible if on the same account. This seems to make sense to me.

I am ready to give it a shot. I will report back on success or failure.

BTW, I bought a new Western Digital 500 GB drive for the experiment. When I opened the box there was a note inside that said something to the effect of "Surprise, the 500 GB drive you bought is actually a 640 GB drive" Cool:yippee:

The EHD's can be shared among all ViP DVR's on the account but not non DVR receivers such as the 211.

EHD's married to a 211 can be shared with other 211's on the same account.

The transfer was a raging success. Everything I moved to the new drive from the 622 plays just fine when the drive is connected to the 612

Now my wife can have all 5,673 episodes of the Carol Duval show on her own drive, connected to her own DVR, showing on her own LCD:yippee:
