A lot of people trashes HD DVD but honestly they were cheaper and for the fact that blu-ray holds more info, in fact, HD DVD hold enough space for the movie, the blu-ray discs just try to fill out the space with "extras" and galleries, I thin it was a political war, not just a technical decision.
So you want the format war back?
I liked HD DVD also, but there is no sense rehashing it all and wishing for a miracle for it to come back. Toshiba apparently has no idea how to promote a product and with Sony being one of the best at promoting their products, it turned out as it did and that is where it is.
Have you EVER seen a Toshiba TV ad on TV? Did you ever see a SD DVD ad on TV from Toshiba? SD DVD took off like it did BECAUSE everyone else marketed the hell out of it, while Toshiba let them do the heavy advertising for SD DVD.

Just because the format war has been over for a year doesn't mean we should end discussion. HD DVD's are dirt cheap now. Some of the titles that must have been pressed in quantities of hundreds of thousands are being sold now for a couple of dollars, that is hard to beat. Software prices were the same until the war ended and now HD DVD prices are king. Let's hope Blu-ray goes down the toilet too so we can find deals like that on Blu-ray.:)

If they were pressing new movies, the format wouldn't be dead, would it? With the market price for an HD DVD established now at less than $5, I don't expect any companies to join in and fight for a piece of that pie.
