Which is better, toshiba 40rv52u or vizio sv42oxvt1a?

Costco has the Toshiba 40RV52U, 1080P on sale for 749.99 and Vizio SV42OXVT1A, 1080P and 120Hz selling for 796.99.

Which tv is better? I am not familiar with either brand. Looking at both sets at Costco, I can't tell the difference. One can't tell 'cause they have the tvs on the same store settings.

I will be using this tv in one of the bedrooms. I will use the tv to watch blueray movies, ps3 games and satellite.

I plan to get one of the sets by 1/31/09 when the sale ends. Your candid opinions are appreciated.

I own 2 Toshiba LCD's and am thrilled with them. I would personally choose the Toshiba over the Vizio, but at the end of the day you have to pick which one you think looks the best since opinions about TV's are so subjective.

I would say to go with the Vizio. They tend to have a very good picture and good reliability. But then, as has been stated, picture quality can be somewhat subjective. Anyway - Vizio. :2cents

Thanks so much for your quick replies. Does the 120Hz on the Vizio make any difference? That's the only difference between the two brands.

I just got a philips 47 7403 HDTV. I like it very much. I would recommend the 120 refresh rate. I would not get the vizio.

All HDTV owners, do you see a difference between just 1080 displays and 1080 plus 120Hz?

you can get the philips non 120 refresh for 950 at target. its a 47 size.

If you were comparing a 120hz Toshiba to a 120hz Vizio I would say get the Toshiba. But since you are comparing price or under $800 TVs I would get the one with the better features. With the Vizio you 2 more inches or screen, 120HZ processing and 4 HDMI inputs. The Vizio also comes with an HDMI cable. There is nothing special about that Toshiba model.

The Toshiba 42XV545U competes with the Vizio SV420XVT and that Toshiba is hard to find less than less $1200.

I highly recommend the Vizio! I just got the XVT series and it's way better than my old panny. Great specs and in my opinion, I'd say the 120 hz makes a difference, especially with sports
