and i'm probably going to get either a 46" or a 50" plasma while they're on sale. now, i still need to call directv and have them install an HD dish, not to mention get a tv table (i'm not shelling out $300-$400 for a wall mount), and any necessary cables. should i wait for the dish to be installed before using the tv? or would it be alright to watch tv and play my wii until then? will this cause damage? be gentle if that's a dumb question. i'm a total newbie.

You can get a good Wallmount for so much less than $300-400.00 at monoprice.com. Check out this link:

Watch TV all you want. You will not damage the TV. Play Wii too. I wouldn't leave a static image on the screen all night long. Enjoy your TV.

Watch TV and play the Wii as he stated above and just make sure you dont leave any static images up on the screen for awhile so shows with black bars zoom so they are gone, dont watch channels for too long that keep their logo in the corner, dont play games with staic images for long periods either, also if you get a Panny with an SD card reader download the zip file from http://www.eaprogramming.com/downloads/download_main.htm and its the one that says this

Plasma Break-in DVD Images
Zip Download (8KB)
Requirements:
Memory Card & TV Capable of looping images from a memory card with no onsceen display.

Download the zip file put it on an SD card and run it on slideshow all night it helps break-in your TV faster.
