On pretty much anything! specs, release date, issues, pro's/con's, recommendations on whether to wait on it or to jump on the px50? I'm easy, if you know something, spill it! :D

Specs should be basically identical to the 50u's, adding a few features, such as sd card slot, epg, and computer inputs. I didn't need these features, so I saved some money and time and went for the px50u. MSRP will be 500 more than each corresponding model. Also, I think they were saying these models would be out by June, so they should be coming out in a few short weeks.

the 500u's also have PIP. Some online vendors have them now.

mscappa, Maybe this info can be considered inside scoop:

"Panasonic Launches “7/8” Generation Plasmas; Sets New LCD Pricing Standard

The announcement of most interest to Panasonic fans is the “PX500U” series, which are set to arrive in June with the long-awaited “7/8” generation glass (same as ONYX series). The Panasonic TH-42PX500U and TH-50PX500U will carry unofficial list prices of US$4500 and US$5500, respectively.

A brief assessment of this plasma shows no screen-door effect at four feet, when viewing a 42-inch HD model. That’s due to Panasonic’s new “sub-pixel” technology, which reduces jaggies. No 37-inch will be available in the 500 series, but a lower-priced “PX50” series will. The 50 series offers different cosmetics but no SD or CableCARD slots. Both lines have terrestrial tuners and discarded the generally disliked “swept design.” "

I agree! I saw the 42px50u in Circuit City and 'to me' it looks cheesy!

and wanted to know if anyone else who owns one of these has been able to fine tune the picture using a calibration disk or accessing the service menu (which I personnaly am afraid to do) OR have any settings they would like to share that they found to have the best pq?

picture
brightness
color
tint
sharpness
etc. etc.

I usually us the standard cinema mode but would like to fine tune it if its possible.

thanks

p.s. also has anyone bought a calibration disk for this set?\
