Durability of Xbox 360 Hd Dvd player???

Looking for someone who has really put this player to work. By that I mean someone that uses this player exclusively. Someone who has a big hd dvd collection. And plays them very often. Also preferably someone that has been doing this since the player came out a 3 years back. I want to see how this player has held up under harsh conditions. Anyone fried one, and how? I ask as this is my only hd dvd player. I want to be playing hd dvd well after it becomes scarce. I am considering buying another 360 player as a backup. A stand alone player might be a pain as I am really running out of room for componets, and so far the 360 player works just as good, is very compact, and can be had for around $50 used. Let me know your thoughts?

Ok, guess I am the only one in the world with this hd dvd player.

I didn't even know they were made.

As a side note I have a 360 I need to send for the dreaded RROD. :haha:

I have the add-on but I don't use it very much. I do know that it's the same drive used in the G2 and G3 Toshiba HD DVD players, so durability should be about the same on that end.

Ok, guess I am the only one in the world with this hd dvd player.

I have used the unit to both playback and rip HD DVDs to my HTPC with no problems. Don't us eit day in, day out, but gets a fair amount of use. No problems to date.

I have used mine quite a bit since I got mine back in December 2006. Since I moved my A2 upstairs with my new TV, it gets even more use lately on my plasma. And with HDMI or VGA, it does a pretty good job at upconversion. As far as a used player for $50, I would say ehh. There are a few places that still have them new for under $50. Fry's still carries them for $39 with KK..:yippee: And they still have a bunch of HD DVD
's for around $10 or less..

I have a few X360 HD DVD drives, but one died after a few months. My X360 console and PC will not see the HD DVD drive.

Well, if you don't have the HD DVD sets 'Heroes' and 'Battlestar Galactica' and you wouldn't mind owning them, Frys.com has a great deal right now on the add-on. Only $50 for it and the above titles. I think that's such a great deal, that it should brush aside any durability concerns. ;)

It's why I own a few X360 HD DVD drives including Toshiba A2 to ensure at least one player stays working until I wouldn't care about my HD DVD movies library which would be years from now when Blu-ray has replaced all my movies.

My launch X360 HD DVD drive still works (costed $180 when it came out) which has been the most used. The one that died was a newer.
