I have upgraded to HD from SD, when the installer came out he looked at the dish's I had and said he didn't have to replace them, "they would work". Does that sound right to you? Everything looks fine but I don't know if it could be better with the correct HD dish?

It is possible you had the necessary dish(es). Do you know which one(s) you have? There really isn't a specific HD dish since the HD channels are on a couple of locations.

Also look at the writing on the lnb's, do they say DP or what?

Two dishes, both 500's, one says DP and one DP plus.

The only reason that it is necessary to change dishes is to add/subtract orbitals. I work in the abilene, tx area, and we recently changed our local channels from the 148 to the 129, the same satellite as HD. So now, all we have to do is point the wing dish from the 148 to the 129 and change the receiver. Before, we would have to swap the primary dish from a 500 to a 1000.2 and leave the wing dish at 148. Life is a whole lot easier since dish moved those locals.
