Hello,
I'm kind of new to all of this, so I'd like to apologize and thank you for your help before I start.
We have Dish Network, and up until a week or so ago, we had two SD televisions hooked up to one (625 DVR). We got a HD television to replace one of the SD TVs downstairs where the receiver is.
I want to upgrade to High-Def for the HD TV, while keeping service on the second SD TV. If I'm not mistaken I can do this with the ViP722.
When I called AT&T | Dish Network they said we would have to get a new satellite dish and keep the old one for a total of two. I was just wondering if this is the case or if there is a way to accomplish this with one dish.
Thanks!
Dylan
EDIT: If you need to know, I live in the Kansas City, MO area.

Dish get video from two different directions (one inherited from Voom HD), so you have to get two antennas in order to receive all HD channels!

It sounds like the OP from Kansas City has a Dish 500 with service through AT&T. That AT&T partnership with Dish is about to expire the 1st of the year. Starting on that day, AT&T will start their partnership with DirecTV so I am not sure how this all plays out because of this but I think even upgrades will probably be grandfathered. I am not sure.
HD locals for KC are located at both 129 and 61.5. If you go with 129, your Dish 500 antenna is replaced with a Dish 1000.2. If you go with 61.5, you will get a second Dish 300 in addition to what you already have. Don't worry about the talk about weak signals from 129 as the Ceil-2 satellite is about to be put into that place. It is already up there being tested.
You are correct in that the 722 will operate 2 TV's independently. 1 HD and the second SD. Keep it connected to a phone line or a broadband connection to avoid a second tuner fee.
I hope this all helps and welcome to the world of HD! :hithere:

Thanks so much for your help!
In a press release on AT&T's website, I read that the transition will occur on Jan 31st of 2009. If this is the case, should I wait until then to upgrade to HD?
