Certain channels using any dsp mode on my 606 reciever give me only a strange whinning noise in my surrounds with my onkyo 606 reciever. I have posted questions in this forum under speakers and surround and as well as avs forum with nothing Ive tried created a solution. At first I thought it was just sd channels would make the strange noise but later discovered that even channels that I got in dolby 5.1 sometimes, not all the time, would give me this noise and no sound at all in my surround left and right speakers. Even found that sometimes the same channel would work correctly one time and not the other. The reciever has been traded out, dish has been out to check lnb voltages, grounding, signal strenght etc. Ive tried many different ways component + opitcal, hdmi, coaxil from dish through power conditioner, straight to wall plug, about anything I can think of. Dish claims my signal is near perfect and that my setup is pristine.
This is really buggin me as Im afraid to even upgrade my system to better sound, speakers, if I cannot get it to work correctly. I guess my real question is: is it possibly that a certain form of sound could be causing this or is dish just ripping me off and bullshitting me cause Ive tried about everything. My thoughts are if its a ground loop problem then why would it work and sound fine on some channels or shows even and not others if it was a ground loop shouldnt it be there no matter what im whatching. Mind you even the same channel will work sometimes the right way and not the next show they play. All sd channel give me the crappy noise in my surrounds and sometimes the hd channels. I have researched and researched and done about all I can take. I know it cant be the reciever I think this is dishes problem problem but need some cold hard facts to help me come at them with about this to get it fixed.
With sd channels all surrounds exibit the noise and with hd channels when effected only the surround left and right sound bad not the back left and right but you can here the faintly the shitty niose in the surround back and left, right. That is why i think it is something on dishes end also cause it only happens when the reciever has to use dsp to create sound in a speaker and it sounds like badly compressed internet noise. This problem has occured when my reciever is recieving both dobly digital 5.1 and almost every it time it recieves pcm fs: 48 from my vip722. Just to clarify Im not talking about bad sound but no sound at all but whining noise or no sound at all but hum. Please help!

Have you tried the analog audio connections from the Dish to the receiver yet?

If you have nothing connected to the receiver but the speakers, do you still get the hum or noise from the speakers?
Have you tried without having your display plugged into the Onkyo receiver?
Have you tried another source other than your Dish receiver?
A friend of mine was having a similar problem after an upgrade and we tracked it down to his Wi-Fi router sitting one shelf up in his closet.
Classic ground loops manifest as 60hz or a harmonic thereof that is constant, not intermittent.

Games on my xbox 360 and Ps3 sound great as do blueray. I have tried all settings with the 722. Have tried with the display not hooked up to the reciever will give this one a try as well as the analog audio connections but dont know what that will tell me if they work as im lookin for high def audio video. I am using 12guage oxygen free copper speaker wire. I have had nothing hooked to the reciever but the speakers but did not here anything. It is clearly distortion of the sound coming from the speaker like whinning noise with a sort of hum in the background I guess that masks all sound that goes to the speaker always in a speaker that would be matrixed from another. The sound is in main speakers but does not mask the material being played. So say if im watching a dolby 5.1 channel the noise would mask the sound completey out of the surround left and right channels but the back right and left channels would produce sound when using say PLxII, Neo 6, etc.

Try connecting your Dish receiver with ONLY an optical cable and no other connections including ANY video. If it immediately starts when you plug it in it is noise coming out of your Dish receiver.
Double check your speaker wiring for correct phase also.

Sounds like high pitch tone of the dialog causes this whining sound in the surround speaker.
Double check your speaker wiring for correct phase also.just triple checked this also to make sure by phase you mean black terminal is hooked to black terminal correct.

Have tried all suggestions so far and will continue to do so and post results, thanks for the suggestions!
The settings for dolbly digital/pcm or just plain dolby digital on the 722 seem useles to me because even if I set it to just dolby digital it will still send a pcm signal to my reciever on certain channels. Does not make any sense at all why have the setting then.
Tried unconnecting the display completly did not change anything.

The 722 Dolby settings permit you to get the DD bitstream. You need the PCM signal for the two channel SD stuff that the Onkyo does Pro Logic to create surround.
Are the channels/programs giving you the most trouble the SD ones without Dolby Digital?
Try both output 1 and output 2 analog outputs and see if the noise persists.
The fact that your other sources are clean could point to a noisy 722 box.

It is not always sd but all sd and sometimes the hd. When it is the hd channels giving me problems the bad noise will be in my surround left and right speakers and the two back speakers will sound ok. When watching a sd channel the bad sound will be in all surrounds: mainly the surround left and right just having the noise and the two backs having sound with the noise.
Ill give the anlogs a shot and see what happens.

Plug in your satellite receiver using a three prong adapter but don't connect the ground portion. Use it like a two prong plug. If it is a ground loop, your noise should disappear. If it does disappear, recheck the system ground. If it is still there, it isn't the ground.
