Installation Questions

Hi,

I have a new HDTV on order and will probably upgrade my current Dish service from SD to HD. I currently have 4 TVs hooked up. Two of them have DVRs. Both DVRs are 510s and the other two TVs are hooked up to 311s. I currently have the 250 bonus pak programming. If I opted for a 722 or 622 DVR to run two tvs how is the wiring done from the primary (HD set) to second tv. I currently have a splitter in the basement that feeds a single cable to each box. I am afraid that the installer will destroy my house running the cable. Do I have reason for concern? Will I need a differenct satellite dish to get HD?
Thanks for your help.

The wiring can be diplexed, allowing just one RG6 cable to be used to each room. You could get two 722s and have dvr on both tvs as well as HD on two of them. Also, if you are hitting the 129 satelite, you will not need your dish to be changed. If not, you will require a 1000.2 dish.

Yeah, in Jersey, you need a separate dish for each TV, you'd need four total, how'd you get away with just 2 dishes for so long. Have you been audited by Dish. You've been "dish stacking". Now you can prob switch to the newer Eastern Arc as long as you have a LOS to it and do it with just one single dish.

No he wouldn't need 4 dishes. 2 is all that's required.

I just got dish installed, and got the single dish eastern arc. That is the one that the installer said that they are trying to do on all new installs.

Me thinks Nick has confused receivers with dishes. In NJ with HD you need only two dishes or if you can get an EA dish, you only need one.

I was doing nothing constructive but goofing around with the first part of the post. Maybe try to spook the OP into convincing his installer to try a little harder to do him up with the EA which he did get, woohoo!!! Just a light hearted goof because I KNEW there would be a minimum of 3-4 posts to correct me on the first segment and set it straight so the ruse was harmless. I also knew "Loves 3-1=2 Watch" would be on it, for shizzle.

Fred and garys, I respect your extensive and prob expensive knowledge of most all things Dish, good job here. I've watched you guys help SWIM and he is pleased.

OK from reading the replies I received, I should be able to receive HD channels through my existing setup? One of my two dishes should pick them up. Right?

Assuming you have dishes pointed at 61.5, 110 and 119, you will be OK.

Press MENU, 6, 1, 3 and see which satellites your system info page reports.

I did the system check for 110, 119, 61.5 and all indicated green. But the system told me to check LBN drift? What does that mean? Thanks for your help.

It means one of the lnb's may be failing. Press Menu 6,1,3, let the check proceed, then report the info in the Details screen to Dish network Tech Support.

I would replace the two DVR510's with new ViP612's. However, the problem with the old DP311's is they are not compatable with the Eastern ARC DISH 1000.4.

I can get you a copy of a DISH Document if that will help but here is a excerpt from DISH.

"With the launch of Eastern Arc, customers installed with an Eastern Arc solution will now be required to have MPEG-4 only equipment, updated with our new G3 Smart Card technology. It is important to recognize the following information when working with an Eastern Arc customer and ordering the proper
inventory for your business needs"

So, in that case you might want to replace your DP311 with ViP211's

You can do this as an UPGRADE through DISH.

Additional note: ViP211's will run CH3 output on TUBE TV's
