I have been planning on upgrading to HD on Feb 1 but dropping America's 100. I would love to pay just $30 a month for HD and local channels, I don't need America's 100.
But there was ad in my email for a $25 upgrade to HD with a commitment. I understand it will be for 24 months and the DVR fee and all but I have a question I hope you can answer. :helpme
If I take the offer, can I get still get rid of my America's 100 on Feb 1 and pay just $30 a month like I wanted to? Can I get a new DVR and free channels like it says with the offer? Or will I be stuck with the 100 package that doens't do anything for me really.
Thanks for your advice. I want to check here before I talk to a CSR that will probably not know what I am talking about.

Get the turbo HD bronze with HD locals: http://www.dishnetwork.com/turbohd/programming/default.aspx
That adds up to $30 like you wanted.
Get a 622 or 722 HD DVR those things are awesome.
I don't know where you live but they don't have HD locals on the west coast yet, so if you live on the west coast you'll have to connect a OTA antenna to the back of the DVR so that you'll be able to record local HD programming, that's what I had to do since the west coast is not serviced by DN yet (as opposed to DTV that has HD locals where I live)

I don't know about new customers, but current customers cannot drop America's Top 100 and get just HD channels. If you try the customer rep. or their website will tell you you have to select one of those packages to add HD.
Top 100 lets you add Bronze HD, 200 lets you add Silver and 250 is Gold.
Even the TuboHD website says this:
WANT TO ADD HD PACKAGES?
Add HD packages for only $10 to your current standard-definition programming.
For less than $50 you can get Top 100 and Bronze HD. I have heard rumors that existing/new customers will be able to do something like this next year, but none of those rumors came from Dish.

A CSR said that on Feb. 1 I can go with just the HD package but I would have to wait until then. I would like to get a new DVR and HD before then with this special deal. But I don't know if I have to commit to the Top 100 to get the deal.

Several cities on the west coast DO HAVE HD locals.
San Diego, Los Angeles, Sacramento, San Francisco, Seattle, Portland, Spokane, not to mention Salt Lake City, and Phoenix also in the west.
Current minimum HD for NEW customer is either HD Turbo Bronze or AT-100 with HD.
If you are a current sub the $10, $20 or $30 HD add on the the AT packages is the only way to go until Feb.
