Kraft including HD-DVD players as one of the "big" prizes in a sweekstakes

I noticed on a box of Ritz crackers I bought recently that one of the big prizes that can be won in a sweepstakes is a HD-DVD player. I hope the winner gets a substitute or something :)

Why is that? They make excellent upscaling DVD players if nothing else.

So, that's what Walmart did with those 10 HD-DVD players they found in their warehouse, in Bumfuk, Ohio....

What is the expiration date on those crackers and the ending date for entry in the sweepstakes. That is funny if the crackers didn't expire about 6 months ago.

Are we even sure that we are talking about a real HD DVD player and not an upscaling player? I bet it is just an upscaling player that they labeled HD-DVD player like many mfg seem to market their upscalers. ;)

I entered the contest last month and it is a HD DVD player.

I started a thread a week or two ago in the HDM section about this. I thought it was funny then and I think it's still funny now. I think the MSRP was $399 so I doubt it's the XDE.

Thanks, I hope I can remember to check a box next time I am in the grocery store. I hope it really is an HD DVD player. That is just too funny and I can just imagine the winner getting one of these high def players and trying to find his favorite new movies to rent. Or better yet taking home a Blu-ray rental and trying it out. When he figures out what he has won, he will likely take it out and smash it on the sidewalk.

Ya, if I win anything, it will probably be a Beta VCR. I still play HD DVD's although I already have more players than I will ever need.

Ha, ya, you are probably right. Of course I would like to win it but I couldn't find a cracker box with an entry so my chances are slim. There should be some way to enter without purchasing the crackers, like mailing in a post card with entry information but I won't do that. The chance is too slim and isn't worth the cost of a postage stamp. Now if I can find a way to enter online, I would give it a shot.
