722 hdmi

Just got my Pioneer 111FD yesterday. Problem is, my satellite receiver isn't working with the tv via HDMI. Through RCA jack, I get a picture, albeit grainy, but the HDMI is just a black screen, with the input name flashing.

I've checked the HDMI cable by plugging it into the Blu-Ray, and that worked flawlessly, so I know it must be something with the satellite receiver (a Dish Network VIP722 DVR) or the settings (and I've toggled through all of the possible HDTV settings on the satellite receiver to no avail).

Anyone else have any issues with their VIP722 HDMI? Anyone have their Pio working with a VIP722??

It's a known issue with the Dish Network DVRs. For example, Philips even has an FAQ concerning this very issue for their TVs. I was able to get it to work via HDMI once it was hooked up to my receiver. With the AVR playing middle-man it works fine.

However, when connecting directly to the TV I would have serious problems ranging from sudden loss of sound/picture ot just no picture at all when I turned on the TV. Dish acknowledged that they know about the problem, but had no solution for me besides using the component cables (which I did until I got my AVR).

Has not been a known issue with the 722.

Follow manual directions for setting up HDMI - if it fails - call Dish and get the 722 replaced.

It has always been an issue with all 3 of my 722s. Dish's answer is to replace the 722, but it's never resolved the issue with my equipment until I got my new AVR.
