Acquiring Satellite Signal

I have a dish dvr 722 with 2 TV's hooked up. One is HD, the other SD with a cable going to the other room to feed it.

On the primary TV (HD), I have a signal, but the second TV shows acquiring signal and just loops.

If I shut off the DVR (tried leaving it off for 5 minutes numerous times last night) BUT leave the power button on to TV2, then TV2 has a signal but the primary TV shows acquiring signal and just loops.

Any ideas before I call DISH? I figured I would try here before trying to explain this to them and going through the hoops.

Two other notes:
1. I have the new card in the unit from Dish; received it a month ago
2. If the primary is in the middle of it's aquiring signal, I can't get to system setup to see if there's a problem

Thanks for any ideas

What dish(es), lnb's, switches are you using. Have you tried pressing the menu button twice and see if that gives you any info?

1000.2 with 3 lnb's plus a dish for the locals in HD. I'll try the menu button when I get home from work. I'm hoping this is just a fluke.

Dish is coming out Friday, they think the 722 is bad.

It's doubtful that it's the receiver, however, one way to check is to go to your signal strength screen and check the signal on both tuner inputs. If you are getting equal signal on both, it's not the receiver, it's a switch or LNB. If you are getting weak signal on tuner input 2, it's the receiver.

No signal on tuner2 at all. Thanks for the input!

sounds like a seperator, try switching the input leads on the seperator

I tried that last night, it did not work.

I too believe it to be a switch or LNB.

As a tech, I have seen this on several occasions. A receiver swap is the only way to go.

ssidave wins, that's what they replaced today. Interesting question; will they send me a new card in the mail for the new receiver? They gave me two new remotes too.

Being another tech, if there is a purple smartcard in the smartcard slot of the new one. Then they will not mail you another. If there is no card, expect a new card (there is no real timeline to how long it will take.) I still havent gotten cards for my 4 boxes.

If your smartcard number begins with S19, you will not get a new card.

Yes, or if your Smartcard number starts with S19, you will not get a new card.

The new receiver had no smartcard so I assume I'll get one in the mail.

No, it's on the motherboard.
