Hey guys. I have been looking for a forum like this FOREVER and I finally found one :) . Anyways, I am planning on getting the next XBOX which highly stresses the use of HDTV. I am looking for a CRT (because it is cheaper for an entry level HDTV) that runs about 26 - 30". Widescreen is preferable, but the thing that is most important to me is either a 720p display (I know it's unlikely with these small televisions), or a 1080i display that upconverts 720p, 480p, and 480i. These are the ones I have been looking at:

I REALLY wanted this TV, but I found that it would not fit in my cabinet. I am looking for a new stand, but hopefully you guys can help me pick a set that's total width is less than 32". Thanks!

Here are a few I am looking at, but unfortunately they do not say the resolution:

And this one seems to be very popular among the masses, but when I looked at it at Best Buy, the picture seemed kind of grainy compared to the Philips set next to it (or all the sets around it).

Thanks a bunch in advance, I am so glad to have finally found a site to help me with my technical problems ;)

These sets are all CRTs (tube TVs)... all consumer HDTVs that use CRTs are interlaced 1080i/30 sets. Your last link was a narrowscreen... bad idea.

You can get 720p/60 native direct view LCD displays in the smaller sizes that will work better, but will cost a bit more that the CRTs.

I think I may stick with the Sony, after reading many reviews I may just have to buy a new armoire to fit this baby

Then you should think a bit bigger... many say you need at least a 40" to see all the detail of HDTV...

The current Xbox looks great on my 30" Sony. I'm a big Xbox fan and I will say that 30" is a good size for playing games and experiencing HD for the first time. Just choose for what your budget can afford. You might want to choose a Sony over those other brands you have links for. The Sony 30" KV-HS420 fits perfect in my armoire and has a great picture.
