Shaw HD PVR - Green Bar when in Full Pixel mode

About a month ago my Shaw HD PVR (DCT 6416) received an automatic software update from Shaw to bring it to version 75.59. Since this update I have a new problem. When I am viewing HD content in Full Pixel mode (1:1) over an HDMI connection, there is a 1/4 inch wide green bar running vertically on the far right side edge of the screen. If I change the 6416 color space from YYC 4:4:4 to RGB, the green bar changes to a 1/4 inch black bar but there is still a bar there covering 1/4 inch of the screen.

I did NOT have this problem before the software update. I have used Full Pixel mode for two years without this issue. I have tried two different HDTV's and the green bar is still there. I even went to Future Shop and had them connect one of their floor model Shaw 6416 PVR's to an HDTV that supports Full Pixel mode and I was able to recreate the problem. The sales person agreed that that is not a good thing. I use Full Pixel mode 90% of the time because most HD channels offer a full clean image with no video noise on the edges. Once in a while I need to change to Normal view which expands the screen about a ½ inch to hide any noise on the edges. This also hides the green bar.

I can watch up-converted DVD's and HD-DVD's on my TV using Full Pixel mode and there is no green bar. I can also use my Xbox 360 via HDMI 1080p and there is no green bar.

I have tried different HDMI cables and different ports on the TV as well.

Has anyone else noticed this problem?
I have sent an e-mail to Shaw about this. Waiting for a response.

Thanks

Broadcasters send other information along with the video you are supposed to see. That's why most all TV's use overscan which eliminates that extra info at the top of the screen. For watching programs from the cable box the solution is to take your TV out of 1:1 pixel mode.

I know that, but like I said, I was able to use 1:1 mode for two years with no green bar on the right side. Since the software update, this has changed.

Mine is on the left hand side and it consists of a 1/4" to 1/2" strip of picture but it is offset from the rest of the picture slightly.(Sharp Aquos 1080P 42").When I first complained they said they were aware and asked me the brand of my TV as if the were keeping stats.Their solution (temporary)was to set it to 720P.I agree with you, until the firmware update there was no problems. They made a fix for people with TVs not as good as ours(something about not being able to see the whole picture)and now suggest we modify our settings down or what I think is backwards to get rid of their screw up.Keep on Shaw to fix this because I will as well.I'm also going to contact Motorola to get their take on it.

this is the reason Cogeoco doesn't support HDMI on the 6416 !~ Motorola sucks !
