50 More HD channels -end of year!?

Just signed up for DN, dish being installed Tuesday, getting Turbo Silver HD, I had picked up a DN brochure which states:

"Over 100 National HD Channels Available, Up to 150 by end of the year"

Is this happening and what channels will they be adding?

According to Charlie on tonight's Charlie Chat, only 100 Hd channels promised for this year, with 120 HD already available, they have kept their promise.

Up to means 'up to'. Advertising sleight of hand.
I'm sure we'll get 150 next year (only 30 more to add) but don't know if we'll get up there in one go.

I'm told, by a CSR, that there will be a batch unveiled on Feb 1st but don't know what's likely to be in it. I'd guess a few more premiums plus assorted others.

BS. I don't have even close to 120 HD channels to choose from when I plop my big fat lilly white ass in front of the TV. And I subscribe to everything. Everyone is on drugs.

Dish counts all rsn's, ppv's premiums and who knows what else. Just because you don't get them doesn't mean they don't count (at least according to Dish). My count is about 82 and I don't have all the rsn HD channels.

There aren't 150 HD channels to be had much less 150 HD channels that actually do HD and not SD upconvert.

HI ALL, i second that, myself i do not count on PPV also!!!:( and I thought by now, they would be rolling out some more HD channels. I watch more of the HD channels than standard def; and sense i thinking of my entire house hold;if they do not upgrade programing then i will be leaving them also. i have a banana that likes to bounce......:banana:

In Feb 2007, I bought a 57" DLP & told Directv I was cancelling because DISH had all those VOOM channels. They claimed 50 new HD channels coming up. When I asked would they be available in my DMA, she was very vague. Seems like she was counting the HD locals in CHI, NY etc. I switched. And we all know the rest of the story with VOOM.

I agree about the 120 being made up of 'magic numbers' but they'll use the same math to get to 150 as well.

The extra 30 will almost certainly include a few more premiums and PPV's. We may only see 10 'real' channels.
