Adding receivers w/o contract.

I just called into Dish Network about adding a HD receiver for 1 room (was looking at the VIP 211). The rep quoted me $100, but offered me a HD DVR for $25, but with a 2yr commitment. I informed here that I was not interested in signing up with a commitment, but just wanted to add a receiver. She stated that adding any receiver would result in a commitment.

Are there any other options for me to add a receiver (3rd party purchased or otherwise) w/o a contract?

Thanks,

JD

Leasing results in commitment, buying outright does not. Several places would see them, local dealers, The Dish Store, e-bay.

Thanks for the reply. I assume after i purchase the receiver, I call of Dish and get it activated? I also assume I will still be charged the monthly receiver fee?

Also interested in finding....I am in the same boat. Let me know where you end up buying a receiver from.

Vip receivers are charged addtional receiver fees of $7, dvr's are $5.98 (if you subscribe to DVR advantage, one dvr fee is waived; if you subscribe to the All Everything package, all dvr fees are waived). There is also an additional tuner fee of $5 per month for dual tuner receivers with dual outputs, this is waived by connecting a phone landline or to a dsl modem.

www.solidsignal.com is as good a place as any for purchasing Dish receivers.
