My digital ready JVC TV (AV-36D800) no longer has a picture unless I use the GuidePlus. GuidePlus allows me to look at a small "preview" picture in the upper left-hand corner of the screen. When I choose a channel to watch in full screen, I get a black screen. If I go back to GuidePlus the tiny picture shows again. The audio works the same either way. I can watch DVD's in full screen with a perfect picture. I made sure my closed captioning was turned off. Any ideas? I have spoken to a few technical repair centers that tell me my tuner might be bad yet I can tune everything in just fine in the guide plus window. Are there some codes I can enter in with my remote that will put everything back to factory default? It's frustrating because I have a strong feeling this guide plus "feature" is the culprit in all of this. Any feedback is appreciated.

Have you tried unplugging your TV from the wall for 15 minutes then plugging it back in? What is the source for your TV programs, antenna, cable, etc.? Is there a cable or satellite box involved?
I'm not familiar with that model, but it sounds like you either have the wrong input selected for the main display, or perhaps you've swapped the PIP and Main display and are viewing the PIP with no input.
When on the blank display, try stepping through the various input selections and see if you get a picture--the appropriate input would be called "Tuner", "RF","ANT 1 (or 2)" or something like that, not something like "Video 1 (2 or 3)", "Component Video" or "DVI/HDMI".
If that doesn't work, try using the PIP "Swap" button on the remote control.
Do you know if your TV has separate tuners for the main display and the PIP?

I've tried the PIP and it will allow me to get a small picture but that' about it. I use an outdoor antenna. I will try the input suggestion. I've tried unplugging it for a day or two and then plugging it back in but nothing changed. Thanks

The TV is a D-Series set. If you just press the PIP button on your remote it will open the PIP window (or move it, if is already open) and display what input is being fed to the PIP window and what is being fed to the main screen. If an actual TV channel number does not display on either the main screen or the PIP window, then you need to use the input button to cycle through the inputs until an actual channel number appears.

If what you're saying is, when you turn on the PIP you see a small picture displaying a TV Channel, then it is working properly and all you have to do is press the PIP "swap" button on the remote control, which should give you a full-size picture of that Channel, with a small black window in it (which would be the PIP with no input signal).
I suspect you don't have anything connected to the PIP input and somehow the Main display and PIP got swapped at some point. It sounds like all you need to do is make sure you set both the Main display input and the PIP input to "Tuner" or "Ant", etc. as I previously mentioned.
