looking for a tv

hi i'm looking for a specific model tv but cant find it because i don't know what model it is. I know its a sony and its high definition its also a CRT tv but a flat tube not a bubble tube i think it has hdmi but im not sure. The one a family member of mine has is silver with a darker shade of silver around the trim and has a pretty big rectangular power button "just trying to be descriptive"

I have a Sony KV-34HS420, which is a widescreen 34" model and is a close match to what you described. It is part of their Wega brand and is HighDef (1080i). They also make a 36" standard model as well as a 30" widescreen and a 32" standard.

They are heavy (mine weighs in at 196 lbs.) and the picture quality is gorgeous (as Sony is noted for).

They also make the XBR models which are a step above the HS420's and have a SuperFinePitch Trinitron tube which is discribed as the ultimate CRT tube.

Sorry to say that Sony phased-out CRT tube manufacture and they mostly available now as refurbs and used sets.

maybe its the standard 36" because it is not widescreen how much could i get one?

I've seen posts on EBay for them and as you might expect there is wide swing in prices...

Just go to Google and type in the brand/and or the above listed models and it should steer to several sites that sell refurbs.

Have you considered asking the family member who has one? It will be printed on the manual cover and on the serial number plate on the TV.

well ya but i don't see them often so im not going to call up and say hey turn your tv stand out and read me the model number. It would be weird.

is there any way i could see all the models of sony s crt tv line so i could pick out the right one i know what it looks like.I found a KV-36FS320 and thought that was it but its not because that is a sdtv and the one im looking for is a hdtv and im 100% positive of that! thanks for helping me do detective work on finding this tv.

Since SONY discontinued their CRT-based HDTV's quite while ago, you're going to have to go digging.

If your relative has the owner's manual laying around, it would be no trouble at all for them to give you the number--what's weird about that? You could email them so it wouldn't be awkward for you...

Good grief! Stop being so stubborn. Sony produced so many different models with the FD Trinitron CRT picture tube that there is no way anyone here can tell you the model number based on a vague description of what the TV looks like. Do us all, and yourself for that matter, a favour by following BobY's suggestion. Ask the owners of the set in question what the model number is. It's on a sticker on the cover of the manual and on the back of the TV. (It's also on the box the TV came in if they still have it). They can answer the question. We can't.
