Newby post - I have a CRT tv and the manual states it is capable of displaying 800 horizontal lines resolution.

Does this mean it will display HD content with component video cables and an HD digital cable box? (Comcast)

That number is the effective resolution of the screen itself. CRT's do not have fixed pixels as do LCD and Plasma displays--the resoution you ultimately see with a CRT is determined by the pitch fineness of the phosphor dots and the shadow mask of the tube.

The real question is whether your TV accepts HD input signals such as 1080i or 720p, over either Component Video or DVI/HDMI inputs. If it does, the manual should say so in the specs and it would have some kind of "HDTV" or "HD Ready" logo on it somewhere.

What model is it?

It is #CN32V71 and is not new.
I believe I understand more now and must aquire a new HD capable LCD or Plasma set. I found a manual on-line and there is no mention of HD capability.

Thanks for the reply

No, that TV is not an HDTV--it has neither an ATSC tuner, nor is it capable of receiving any HD signal formats via Component Video. Sorry.
