DVR is a Disaster

i'm new to this portion of the board (been both a directv and comcast subscriber and have a panny 50" with yamaha receiver and klipsch 5.1 surround sound), but i am at a loss with my new U-Verse DVR.

this thing seems disastrous to me.

i won't even get into the minutiae of things it doesn't have (compared to other DVRs) such as being able to go slow motion b/c it does have a few good things that the others don't (watching recorded material on different tvs).

BUT... here's my problem.

i set my dvr to record individual programs and various series and it is constantly deleting the scheduled recording (sometimes i set a program every bloody day for an upcoming football game) and it deletes it every bloody day. uggh.

also, many times it only records 4 or 32 minutes of a one hour program.

do i have a lemon or am i an idiot?

i kinda figured i did since i am expert with everyone else's DVRs (comcast/directv/tivo), but i will admit i'm not interested in reading the manual... rather just play til i figure things out, so i figured i could have missed something.

i'm going to contact them and see about a swap / replacement when i get home.

i'll report on my status when something changes.

Those do seem like some really odd issues. I'd get on the horn with Tech Support.
