Despite the lack of a firm date on James Cameron's Avatar, the long-absent director is already working on his next project, a 3-D animated adaptation of the manga Battle Angel. Looks like the legendary director is planning to get back on the scene in a big way after his lengthy layoff since 1998's Titanic.
Concept artist Mark Goener spoke with Market Saw about the technical aspects of the project. The artist admitted to being largely under wraps via non-disclosure agreements, but offered praise of Cameron and his Lightstorm production company and said that he is working with production designer Martin Lang (Terminator Salvation, Titanic). He also indicated that, while the movie will pay homage to the original graphic novels, it will be altered to appeal to a more mainstream mass audience.
