Wondering if anyone knew if Uverse is capable of upgrading the numbers of simultaneous streams that can be viewed and/or recorded -

Some users are getting 5 SD streams now. Doubtful if there will be more than 2 HD and 2 SD or 5 SD anytime soon.

The lines are capable of the bandwidth, but this is more a question of how long will it take before it happens. AT&T left plenty of room for improvement.

In my case, there's a building not far from where I live that houses all of the switches & wiring. The tech who installed mine said that my apartment complex is sharing that building with the neighborhoods across the street and we're supposed to get our own switch hub in 2009. It sounds like it's a matter of upgrading and expanding all of those to be able to provide the full bandwidth to everyone.

I went over to a friends house who has U-Verse and he said that he could not record an HD channel and view a different HD channel at the same time. I was under the impression that there were 2 HD streams and that you could record and watach a different HD channel but he showed this to me and the error message that prompted when he tried to change the channel was "you are viewing too many HD channels". He lives in Houston, is he missing an update or is this how it is? He also mentioned that the HD quality was far less on U-Verse than Comcast??

No i dont think there will be more then 4.the reason for that is uverse wants to keep there quality if u add more streams the high definition wouldnt be the 1080p that it is right now.more streams less quality in the picture..
The other companys that use more streams like twc and comcast have minimal quality.if u have high def with those cable companies do you know there resolution? The resolution of high def with those companys are 1080I.Thats uverse standard resolution with out high def...

Are you implying that U-verse is 1080p? :roflmao: Since when?? I must not have gotten that firmware update yet.

Don't get me wrong. I am quite impressed with my U-verse service and favor it over cable in many ways. But 1080p it is not.

yeah, I missed that update to 1080P as well!!

there will be more streams added first quarter 2009; it may require pair bonding, which is being tested now..
