Surge protector with coax

I have mission furniture and was tired of looking at all my wires, so I rearranged everything on the shelves to better hide them. This time, I ran both coax cables going to my 622 DVR through a surge protector with 2 coax jacks for cable and 1 for satellite. I connected the two lines from the dish into the cable inputs, and the home distribution coax from the STB to the satellite input.

I know that signal loss is hit-and-miss with different brands and models, but in this case both tuners received a good signal for about 20 minutes, then tuner 1 lost all channels. About 5 minutes after that, tuner 2 started to look like A Scanner Darkly (rapidly shifting images and artifacts) on every channel. Anyone know why it worked fine, then stopped?
