i have a mitsu 1080p HD tv... A PS3 and an old school reciever... these are series of connection methods i've used and i hear a buzzing noise comming from my surround setup...

Ps3-HDMI-TV for video...
Ps3-RCA-Receiver for audio... my reciever doesent have hdmi or optical...
there's a buzzing noise...

Ps3-HDMI-TV for video
Ps3-HDMI-TV(out)-RCA-Receiver for audio...
still a buzzing noise...

the buzzing noise changes loudness with volume too.. and i notice that when i unplug the ps3 from the outlet, the noise goes away too...

you can hear the noise no matter what you select on the reciever (video 1, video 2, dvd etc)

is there a way i can fix this?

so right now i only connect the hdmi when im using the ps3... when im watching cable tv, i disconnect it in order to get rid of the noise...

thanks in advance

one of two causes:
1. The dreaded "ground loop" where noise is a 60 cycle hum introduced by the house wiring ground connection or a bad ground on the cable TV cable or TV antenna cable.
2. There might be a problem with the PS3, but this is less likely than a ground loop.

A google search on "ground loop" will give you hours and hours of fabulous reading.....:banghead:

Sounds like a ground loop. What connections are you using to watch regular tv? My guess is you have the coax cable from the cable company hooked directly to the tv, and you are getting the dreaded loop between that and your ps3 (I had the same problem).

Try unhooking just the coax, and see if the buzzing goes away when playing ps3, which I think it will.

If so, you need to simply ground the coax connection. Just get a new surge protector that has coax protection too.

use another hdmi some cables aren't compatible with certain tvs. If still goes on use dvi or component dvi is just as good and component is almost the same too!
