New customer offer????

I've had Dish since 1999 and have not paid much attention to the new customer offers and the Dish website is kind of vague/doesn't show what my parents need.

My parents are finally fed up with cable and want to switch to Dish. They need 2 SD dual tuner DVRs(6 TVs and they need flexibility). What can Dish offer them? I see the "DVR Advantage" gets the a $50 credit and free install to one receiver, what can Dish do for the 2nd receiver, will they need to just buy one outright? Will Dish only start them off with one leased receiver? Is the lease fee on the SD dual tuner DVR $5 or $7 a month? My parents would have about $600-700 to buy the gear and I'm not sure there is much of an advantage to do that but I don't know how much the 2nd unit would cost them on the "DVR Advantage" package.

A secondary note is they have absolutely no desire for HD, mom claims to see the difference but does NOT care, whatever. On that note, I see Dish Store has the 525, how's it compare to the 625?

Call dish and find out.

That's horrible advice, he probably wanted to get some ideas here first before he called Dish and their other wordly customer service folk. Nice job jim:yippee:

Call dish and find out.

(sarcasm follows):rolleyes:Geez, :huhI never thought of that, thanks for the news flash:banghead:, I was hoping to hear from a retailer or someone whom had recently been added as a new customer. I don't feel like f'n around on the phone with Dish tonight making multiple calls because I know it all depends on whom you chat with at Dish and how you approach them as to the specific "deal" you might get. Kinda like to hear a recent experience to see what is being done out in the field. I may install this for my folks, SO maybe I could gain something from another member's unhappy experience, is that OK JIM!! I hope to hear from an installer or retailer or even a CSR in the know, someone can guide me or steer me in the best direction. I'm certain that Dish oughta be able to set me up but too many foreigners to decipher and don't get me started on the different specials and deals that come out depending on who you get for a CSR

If you go with the Dish Advantage this is what you'll get $49.00:

-America's Top 200
-Local Channels
-1 Dual tuner DVR (Good for 2 TVs)

Yes the equipment is "rented" and is $5 a month.

There is a cheaper package $39.00:

-Same as above , but less channels

Thanks EL DUDE.

I figure they'll get this pkg with the Top 250 instead, lease the one receiver and have to buy an additional 625. That'll get them a free install and Dish at least. Saves me a little work at least.

You can get guesses from everybody all over, but unless you call and actually talk to a dish rep you cannot know what they have.

Whether you call a local retailer or Dish itself they are the best source for pricing info on their product.

My answer was not meant to be smart-alecky, but the actual fact of who really knows the info you want.

They wouldn't have to buy a second receiver. They automatically get a dual tuner receiver (plug in 2 tv). The 250 is an upgrade for $10 (I think).
