rather then the Monitor 30/40's I was wondering if these would be a decent alternative.

Violent31601,

Those should work fine. Since they are also Polk, they should match pretty well. It's more critical to match the front three speakers closely. For the rears, a good solid set of the same manufacture that is close in performance to the fronts is a good way to start.

Having said all that; however, the best performance and integration will be with the surround speakers from the same series, the monitor 30 or 40's. The tweeter size in these Monitors is the same as the fronts, but the RM7 only has a 1/2" tweeter. Most likely, you will hear this difference.

However, notice that that price ($80) is per speaker for the RM7, making it $160 for the pair.

I also notice that J&R has the monitor 40 for $200. Given the relative small $40 price difference, I would definitely recommend the monitor 40's. They will blend well with the fronts.

Hope this helps.

well, I would be fine with that, but the only thing is i don't know where I would put them.

I have these stands that I wanted to put my speakers on and I don't think I can put bookshelf speakers on them

Go ahead and use the RM7's on the stands you have. The surround and rears are like a fill-in flash in photography, they just "fill-in" the sound and provide some special effects. The L/C/R are the ones that rock your gypsy soul. Thank you Van.
In HT, finding speakers and components that fit the room is half the battle. The other half is room acoustics. The best speakers in a showroom are not always the best in YOUR room.

Guys,

When you talk about "matching the front 3 speakers" or "timbering"???..what is that?

If I purchase 4 matching Speakercraft in-walls for the front and rears, can I use the same speaker for the center? If I need to use something other than an in-wall for the center, what do I need to keep in mind considering I will be using the speakercraft MT6 everywhere else?

Matching tweeter size and material is the most important.

I second the recommend on the Monitors to match the CS2.
