hey guys, i want to know, which HD cable box, NOT HD DVR box.

Which brand of their HD cable boxes is the best? the latest one they gave me (like 5-6 months ago ) when i returned my scientific atlanta DVR box ( didnt want DVR anymore) , they gave me a Samsung HD Cable box, i have a question, which one of time warner's cable box gives the best picture quality? the scientific atlanta or the samsung ones? (or maybe there is some other brand i dont know about)

Thanks

you will get what your area uses. You can not use a SA box on a Motorola system.

whatever ill keep the samsung one.

i have a question about my coax cable wiring around the house,

basically i have it like this:

Cable line > 2 way split (1 goes into tv in living room, the other goes into bedroom where the connection continues) > 2 way split (1 goes into the cable modem and the other one goes into the Motorola Booster) From the motorola booster OUT theres a coax cable going into the tv into the bedroom tv.

Forget about the connection to the other, so the way i have is not correct?

Should it be like this:

cable in > Motorola booster > 2 way spliter (one into living room tv, the other into bedroom where connection continues) > 2 way spliter (one goes into cable modem and the other goes into the TV )

Would that be a correct setup?

and just to be clear, am i loosing picture quality because i dont have the motorola booster in the Entry part of the cable in?

Are all of the channels digital, or is there analog? Are you happy with the picture, or unhappy?

Checking all connections never hurts. Use good cable, and splitters.

I have 3 TV, and a modem, and do not need a booster. The tech always say the signal is good. Discovered the box diagnostics myself, and see the numbers.

Digital should work fine with a lower signal than analog. Higher number analog channels pick up more distortion. Too much signal makes a bad analog picture. Was not very helpful with my on demand, either. A booster may boost distortions as well as signal.

I like to try everything out. Seems like you would want to take into account the worst quality analog that you see. Does the booster currently benefit the TV that it is on? Is there someplace on cable entry into the house that you would put the booster? Would all the TV benefit? Why amplify it after all the signal has been lost? Try it out. See for yourself. Take the booster off and see what the picture looks like.

Learn everything about your box. Search the internet for Samsung, and the model number. See what you can find here on this web site.

Have fun, good luck. :hithere:

I have two boosters here for 8 outlets 4 digital boxes 2x DVR digital boxes HDTV, HTPC with 3x turner cards, couple of spliters, on 7 sets SD on the others and cable modem. If done right you shouldn't see any snow or fuzz and the picture should be like you see when you visit your local cable branch office. I hate to bring-up what to do to solve this riddle but I'll just keep it lid on it.. Just brings out the worst in people about cabling.
