Going to be after the election though.. Oh joy more tax free money in our pockets. I hope it more than last time. They say 150 billion instead of 170 billion last time around. But it's going to cover states and infrastructure needs and help those on unemployment whose funds are dried up being out of work so long. Those of us working better watch it as you never know who gets that letter...

IRS told me when my check was going to be in my mail box. So I didn't wait for it. They were off a few days though. I think it will come, and I am sure you could use it like all of us here. Still what amount should be fair? $1,200 goes quickly.. If you got 6x kids you at $300 a pop. I had told my nephew if you want Xbox 360 go ask your mom since she's getting $300 for you back from the Government.

:banghead: I think the government should just send everyone a check for $3.78 million-- and that's all you get-- ever! And send it to illegals too-- perhaps most will take it and run home.

And Nancy P. needs to raise the minimum wage too . . . afterall, when those burger flippers get their $3.78 million, most are not going to want work for 8 bucks an hour any longer. (Damn, I wonder who I can find to cut my grass . . . )

This whole concept of taking the wealth from those that have some and giving it to those who don't is just stupid-- there seems to be group determind to make this even more of a welfare country. I hope Bill Gates, Warren buffet, et al can continue to fund this nonsence, because as middle class taxpayer, I have had just about all I am willing to stand-- it may be time to "quit" making and start taking myself.

Good post.
---------------------------------------------------------
From Alexander Tyler. No, he wasn't writing about the United States. This quote is well over one hundred years old. Tyler was writing about the fall of the Athenian Republic.

"A democracy cannot exist as a permanent form of government. It can only exist until the voters discover that they can vote themselves money from the public treasure. From that moment on the majority always votes for the candidates promising the most money from the public treasury, with the result that a democracy always collapses over loose fiscal policy followed by a dictatorship. The average age of the world's great civilizations has been two hundred years. These nations have progressed through the following sequence: from bondage to spiritual faith, from spiritual faith to great courage, from courage to liberty, from liberty to abundance, from abundance to selfishness, from selfishness to complacency from complacency to apathy, from apathy to dependency, from dependency back to bondage."http://boortz.com/more/quotes.html

Indeed hatt, I am familiar with this writing.

I think we in the later stages of the fall and our friends in EU are just in front of us . . .

" . . . from bondage to spiritual faith, from spiritual faith to great courage, from courage to liberty, from liberty to abundance, from abundance to selfishness, from selfishness to complacency from complacency to apathy, from apathy to dependency, from dependency back to bondage."

I think we are in the blue here . . . I used to be complacent, but now I just don't care anymore. Like this election: Obama's plan is a sure trip into a depression: more spending and higher taxes. But on the other hand, the media and the left are so filled with hate, If McCain were to win, the news would harp on everything negative even more than do now, and fear and panic over the economy will increase and we will continue to go down hill. Maybe if the marxist community organizer wins, the media will tell everyone how wonderful things are and just maybe enough people will believe it, so that things start to turn around. I really don't care either way.

Our government (all of it) is just too large and out of control. And the attacks on the second amendment over the last two centuries have left the population ill prepared to overthrow an oppressive government. We get what we deserve.

When HD get to Panama; I'm going to consider moving. :what:

Minimum wage is higher on the Indian reservation then it is in USA side. Still that should be now $20 an hour, don't see how anyone can still live on the rate now. Crazy if you think about it. Don't forget charities those who have it get tax breaks if they give some of there money away.

Unemployment funds should be automatic when you loose your job the x-employer just presses a button he's cut! Plus funds should never end if you're used all of the the funds or until you find a job.

These checks we all go what did most of you do with it? I gave it to the wife I haven't see what she did with it. :banghead:

Gas was so high the past couple of months it's crazy if you have a large V6 and V8 some 4s don't get good gas mileage anymore. I laugh when they say 24 highway like that's what you're going to get. Yeah right. Stuck in rush hour traffic lets see if you get 24 highway..

Everyone buying lottery tickets but the money goes for the state as not everyone going to win. I see people buying $20 dollars tickets one woman was spending $100 bucks just to win back $20!

Our government has been taking money from the working class and writing welfare checks to the millionaires, billionaires, and wealthy corporations since Regan took office. Whats wrong with giving a measly $600 to people who actually earn their income through a little something called LABOR?

Really?
According to a recent study by the nonpartisan Congressional Budget Office, those who make more than $43,200 (the top 40%) pay 99.1% of all income taxes, the taxes that support our troops in Iraq and Afghanistan, and, for example, fund the federal portion of transportation, education, environmental and welfare spending.

Those who made more than $87,300 in 2004, the top 10%, paid 70.8% of all income taxes, an increase from their share of 48.1% in 1979. Think about it. Ten percent pay seven out of every 10 dollars and their share of the burden is rising.

Haha, you just proved how horrible the income inequality is in this country. Income tax on wages up to $79k/year is 25%, up to $165k/year is 28%, up to $350k/year is 33%, and $351k+/year is 35%.

Thats only a difference of 10%. So if your numbers are correct, it just illustrates how pathetic the distribution of wealth is in this country. 1% of the people hold something like 90% of the wealth in the country. Its sick. Makes perfect sense that they would pay most of the income tax. If they have most of the money, why shouldn't they pay most of the tax? Its just illogical any other way. (unless you're hatt, than the illogical becomes logical)

As in a poker game where the chips were concentrated in fewer and fewer hands, the other fellows could stay in the game only by borrowing. When their credit ran out, the game stopped.

Yeah, like huge corporations, oil companies, companies who move their headquarters overseas, etc.

Besides, its funny when people get upset about giving poor people $600 dollars, but they don't get a billion times more angry at giving Wall Street $700 billion dollars.

If $600 to a person who pays no income tax because their taxable income is ZERO (meaning they are pathetically broke and reap NO benefits from their life choices) = Bad, then $700 billion dollars to investors who create bubbles and destroy markets should = revolution. But I don't see anyone getting their pitchforks

So, 1% of the country owns 50% of it's wealth yet pays 25% of the total tax base. That's a lot easier to figure out. Spin it any way you want.

BTW- The WSJ? Aren't they part of the 'liberal media elite"? Or is that only when it's politically convenient? How about a link to Nobel prize winning economist Paul Krugman, who says the WSJ is full of shit. How about that one?

Those are the federal income tax rates based on income levels, a matter of public record. Its common knowledge for anyone who pretends to know something about economic policy. (So yes, I guess I should have provided a link for you because thats obviously not something you would know anything about)

Here's a full copy of the 2008 federal tax overview, by the House of Representatives; you know, the ones from Congress? Page 5 has the exact tax brackets and percentages, as I listed earlier.

The kids aren't earning money and paying taxes.

It should be based on the parents income. The number of kids they have shouldn't have a damn thing to do with it.

Most of the money doesn't go far if you ask me, but it needs to be on a regular bases. Everything is a mess now. Have you seen all the small business going under. Linen and things going out of business, not going to be the same.
