A PM from joeyp:

I live in orlando fl. 32837 I installled a hdtv antenna to recieve local hd broadcasts on my hdtv with an intergrated tuner . After recieving all channels and being very happy with reception , I one day was watching WWSH , Channel 2 I lost reception and was never able to get it back , that is the only local station I cannot recieve , but I had it before do you have any ideas as to what happened. joeyp orlando...

According to the F C C webpage channel 2 is operating at reduced power and the www.antennaweb.org (http://www.antennaweb.org) site says you need a "red" rated antenna to receive channel 2, the largest. The transmitter is listed in Datona Beach and is at 59 degrees pretty much the same as the Orlando stations. It says you are about the same distance from all of the Orlando stations as the Daytona Beach station, so they are probably all in the same antenna farm. Just the studio address is in Daytona Beach.

Since that seems to be your NBC station the outage is probably temporary. This will happen quite often in some markets during the transition period while they are working out the kinks in their DTV equipment. Maybe they just blew a fuse! I'd give them call.

I was watching a show once when the sound went off. After about an hour of switching bck and forth between SD and HDTV I called the station. They said they didn't know anything was wrong. The sound returned shortly. Point I got from that is they only are broadcasting HDTV because they have to get ready for when they hve to shut down the analog equipment, but they really don't pay much attention to the digital side right now. Here in Houston some of the station's commercials audio will be quite a bit louder than the network feeds. They still don't have the audio equipment to normalize the levels yet!

I live in Port Orange and the NBC went out right before Hurricane. It has not been back yet.
