i just recently setup a htpc with a radeon 3450 pci-e video card and a lg blue ray drive to watch blueray movies on my panasonic 50" plasma screen. the problem i am having is that even thought my video card is set to native resolution of my plasma screen it does not use the whole screen. there is about 2 inches or more around the the displayed screen. why doesnt my video card use the whole screen. the picture is perfect and complete but just not using the whole screen. i am connecting to my tv by hdmi.

If your settings on that card is for the native display of your panel.. you should get 1:1 unless of course your panel doesn't support 1:1 pixel aspect (whihc is more than likely). Just check the display advanced monitor/TV settings on your PC that the card knows the type of panel and has the correct driver. Under the advanced display menu you should have a few tools to help you out... including some screen expansion.

Looking at it from the manufacturers point of view, they're accounting for an overscan signal and the video is being massaged by internal chips without a bypass (most plasma's do this to avoid burn). If there is RGB or DVI-D inputs... you might consider checking them out.
