dont know if this has already been posted if so please give me a link to it. thanks!

How is it the signal from the Sat dish to the sat box can use just a coax line, while it has to use a hdmi or composite from the sat box to my tv? I also can receive hd over the air with just a coat hanger using the air coax connection. Whats the benefit using the hdmi, composite to get eh source while just connecting 1 wire gives out same level of quality?

Also, I had direct tv SD before i got my hd service with dish, When my dogs chewed on the wire, i noticed the signal had more compression issues then before ( yet i keep being told it either works or not works ) but i have seen there is some picture quality loss when the wires get exposed.

Im just wondering. Only people who have moderate knowledge or higher please explain. Thanks!!!

I think this is what you are asking...
The SD or HD signal coming from the dish or antenna is raw (encrypted/compressed in the case of dish) data that needs to go through a digital tuner/processor to be processed. Once processed, the HD signal is a higher bandwith vs what was transfered to it. HDMI/DVI, Component and VGA can handle this higher bandwith needed. Component is basically 3 seperate RG59/6 coax cables anyway. I think this is correct for the most part.

As far as your dog chewing thing goes... Are you talking about digital HDMI/DVI cable or analog component cable??
