Ok, this is really confusing me and doing my head in
I am usually quite a techie person, pcs, club sound systems etc, but this HD stuff is really confusing me.

OK, i think the best way is if i tell you ever so helpful peeps what i want out of my tv, then hopefully you can advise me, i was due to order it today, but having read some stickies i am as confused as ever grr..

I will be sitting approx 6 ft from my tv
I have been used to a crappy old 14" tv for a year now
I will be playing games on ps for a while *before my mate takes it back to the uk* then i wont be playing games as i hate playing them on my own haha
I love watching my movies
I will be getting a surround sound set up so not worried about the tv sound capabilities
I download oops, should i say that?.. erm.. 720p x264 tv progs such as prison break etc.. which i like to watch in good quality, however most are normal recordings which i am fine with. But would like to watch them from my lappy direct to tv or burned to dvd and watch through my player, ideally pc so as to save on media.

Hopefully that helps..

So, what on earth is x264?
I was going to order the samsung LE37A656 which is full hd
Do i need 37" and full hd or will 32" and 720p be fine for my needs? or maybe the 37" and 720p?
And what is the difference between a hd ready 1080p and a full hd 1080p?
Samsung do a few 32" lcd that are not full hd, so how do i know which one to get?
BUT i do like the Rose Red colour.. ya see my dillemma..?

Any help will be greatly appreciated, and thanks so much to the help i have had in the past. :yippee:

Frankly, for the size of the HDTV in question here (32-36"), it would not matter much in the way of Picture Quality for FULL HD (1080p) verses just plain old HD (720p)! That is unless you plan to sit just a few inches (cm for those emperically challenged :p) from the face of the HDTV.

1080p "FULL HD" (a marketing term) starts to matter at sizes above 42" IMO. :what:

The "HD Ready," label usually means that the HDTV in question, does not have a built in HD TV tuner. (i.e. an external HD source is required to get and subsequently view HD content.)

Samsung makes some of the best LCD TV products out there, so I don't think that you could go too wrong with their products.

I hope this helps a bit. :hithere:

hey omega

Thanks for your reply.. ok, i think that answers most of my questions.. can i pm you a link to where i intend to buy the tv from in the uk as i am not sure whether you can post links on here.. and if you can advise me to which models i should go for i would be really appreciative.

But, i think i am swaying towards the Samsung LE32A656a seems to do everything i need i think..but await your advice.

Thanks
