I have a computer with optical out and am unsure which option to go

Buy a receiver and speakers and use the optical out to the receiver?

Or buy Creative Gigaworks S750 Speakers??? My soundcard suports 7.1 output, but would it be recomended spending more money on a sound card? would that get better quality? Thanks for help

optical out will give you 5.1 surround sound, not 7.1. That is really the easiest way to me.

If you want 7.1, the only way I can think of is getting a receiver that has analog inputs for all sepakers, and running headphonejack->RCA cables from your sound card to the receiver to get all 8 channels going.

I don't know of a way to directly hook speakers/speaker wire to a sound card.
