Weird colors when watching non-HD after HD on Comcast DVR through DVI output?

I recently changed over from Component to HDMI for Input 1 of my Pioneer Elite Pro-910HD. The source is the Sunnyvale, California Comcast with 2-tuner HD DVR and DVI output, so of course the cable is DVI at one end and HDMI at the other. I've noticed an odd phenomenom: Often after I watch an HD channel live (as live it gets on the DVR, anyway, or after I play back an HD recording from the DVR, when I next watch a non-HD channel or recording, the colors are screwed up. As if the blue were missing, perhaps. I'm not sure the problem showed up as soon as I switched to the HDMI connection. It MAY have just shown a couple of days ago, right after the Comcast box downloaded new software.
If I turn the TV off and back on, or just visit another input and then come back to #1, the colors are back to normal. Is this problem because of the 'HDCP handshake ' thing I've seen mentioned but haven't yet read about? The only visible feature of the new software is an improved Title Search capability, but could it also have included some change in the handling of the HDCP protocol that has caused this odd behavior?

Welcome to High Def Forum. I have Motorola DCH 3416, and DCT 3416. I have had several Motorola.

You could find a cable store that would upgrade your box to HDMI. Sound is included with HDMI.

Check the menu and see if there are color settings for DVI. Power off the box and hit menu on the remote.

Comcast and Motorola have information on thier web sites. I do not have a handy dandy link. Check out the remote section. If you do not have 30 second skip, add it. If you lose audio, mute and unmute the box. Check out the diagnostics by powering off the box and immediately hitting ok on the remote. Much, much, more, proving again that Wikipedia is the coolest.

From what I have heard, sometimes there is no solution. You may switch back to component. I have 2 similar TV, do not see a difference.

Funny thing is, if my component switch box is not working right, I lose blue. Would not have expected it of digital. Good luck. :hithere:
