I had made a post a few months ago about sports teams that have purple in their uniforms such as the Lakers, Vikings, LSU Tigers, etc., the purple in their uniforms would come out blue on my Hitachi Ultravision. Yet on sitcoms, news shows, movies, pro wrestling, I would see purple shirts, purple ties, purple trunks. (Well, the pro wrestling purple was probably a fake purple). It was sort of aggravating that purple sports uni's would be blue and not their real color.
This was the darndest thing; When watching the Oklahoma Sooners play the Washington Huskies at Seattle, the first half of the game was played in direct sunlight and the Huskies jerseys showed up as purple which I knew was their color. When the second half started and the teams came out, the sun was lower and the light was indirect (likely the lights were turned on also) and the Huskies jerseys were now blue. For the rest of the game the Huskies jerseys were blue. I couldn't believe it but I'm not making this up; I actually saw it.
Also, when watching the Vikings play in full direct sunlight one afternoon, their uni's showed up as purple and not blue. I've seen them as blue other times.
Both games were on a major network, through a rabbit ear antenna.
Maybe direct sunlight makes a difference as compared to artificial lights.
It's still frustrating that they aren't purple all the time, even at night or indoors, and just sports uniforms.
