Hi all, need some advice if anyone has a sapre couple minutes

I have a media center pc - i have a nvidia 9600gt card connected to my samsung hd tv with res 1380 by 768.
I tried a dvi to hdmi cable from card to tv and the picture wasnt great, so i am using dvi to vga and picture is sweet, i bought a blueray drive and i also play mkv files etc
I played a blueray film in powerdvd and it seemed to play fine however a friend said this was an analogue signal so it wont be playing at full HD, it will be like downscaling, is this right and if so do i have any better options?

Cheers
Al

The downscaling is due to your HDTV not the VGA. VGA will carry 1920x1080 just fine and even higher. Since your HDTV is 1366x768 resolution that is the max pixels you can see anyway. You are fine.
