Hey everyone

Well after much research etc, i am about to order my LCD.
So, i want to be able to burn blu ray movies etc and or back up my HDD content onto a blank Blu Ray Disc.
Any ideas on a fairly good external BR writer?
I have a laptop, so i guess it would be USB 2.0
Also, what software would i need to be able to burn? I have nero at the moment, but not sure it would work for this. Which other software do you recommend?
One last thing, i am about to start doing karaoke.. yes i know grr lol.. but i will be using my laptop. I need a different video card so i can view my laptop screen and also have an av out to all the tv's etc in the venue.. the one connection junction box will be a single RCA.. any ideas? i have a PCMCIA slot on the side of my laptop.
I have looked around, but not getting much luck on this.

Thanks for any help or replies peeps.

Woop.

Here is a fair external Blu-Ray burner:

You could also try an internal burner and get an external enclosure for it, which possibly can be cheaper if you find a cheap br-burner.

Software included with your blu-ray burner should enable you to burn data to the br-disc just fine. If you are wanting to author Blu-Ray movies, I'm not sure the best route for that. I know Nero lets you burn blu-ray movies, but you'll have to pay for an extra codec.

I'm not to sure on your video out problem. Most likely, you can do it by the software on your graphics driver. Instead of mirror-mode (where the TV out is the same as your screen), there should be an option for a different desktop (your lap top screen is one thing, and to the right is another desktop that can be viewed on a TV). There aren't too many external laptop graphics cards around from what I see.
